In Kazakhstan, most airlines stick to standard patterns. That is why until recently it was hard if not impossible to buy flight tickets from Almaty to Shymkent at an affordable price.
The frequency of flights between Almaty and Shymkent has been increased from 9 flights per week to 15 flights – twice a day, on Wednesdays - three times a day.
Once Air Astana launched the first low-cost carrier FlyArystan, the market environment has changed dramatically. Since the low-cost airline offers direct flights at considerably lower prices, much more potential passengers get interested in the Almaty—Shymkent flight schedule.
It should be noted at the outset that our low-cost carrier’s offer is beyond low prices and cheap flights. The new company provides many other competitive edges in the market.
The international airport is only 10 km away from the city. The building is very compact and has everything you need. It is almost impossible to get lost and be unable to find some essential spot, whether it is a WC, an information desk, a bar or a shop.
There is a clear navigation system inside and outside the premises. All signs are duplicated in two languages: Kazakh and Russian.
The airport also has a modern cafe, a police post and a baby care room. A stand-alone building hosts the airport’s canteen offering really decent dishes at reasonable prices.
The public transport stop is right across the airport building. Buses 12, 12A and 12B run daily from 6.00 AM (06.00) to 07.00 PM (19.00). The traffic interval is about 15 to 20 minutes. If you arrive earlier or later, you will have to order a taxi.
A taxi stand can be found near the bus stop — taxi drivers are waiting for their passengers in the free parking lot. Most likely, private drivers will approach you first and offer to take you to the city. However if you call the local taxi service, the fare will be three times lower.
The city has a moderate climate. The average temperature in winter and in summer is around -2°C and +25°C respectively. Based on the meteorological data, the rainiest month is March.
Local dwellers are friendly and happy to answer all questions of the city’s guests.
When planning a trip, do not forget to buy a return ticket at an affordable price. Your trip will be the most convenient and budget-friendly if you book return tickets on the FlyArystan website.
If you have any additional questions, please contact the low-cost carrier’s 24-hour contact center with polite and competent operators. Enjoy your trip!
