It is more profitable to do business internationally than domestically, so the demand for flights to the Chinese city is growing.
Flights schedule to Urumqi
Direct flights from Astana to Urumqi are operated twice a week: every Thursday and Saturday. The journey takes a little more than two hours.
The difference in time zones between cities is two hours: Astana has UTC+5, Urumqi has UTC+8.

How to get from the airport to the city center
The plane with the message "Astana — Urumqi" departs from the International Airport Nursultan Nazarbayev (NQZ) and arrives at Urumqi Divopu International Airport (URC). Divopu is located 16 km from Urumqi, and there are two ways to get to the city:
- By bus. A large express departs from Passenger Terminal No. 2 around the clock every 15-20 minutes. The ticket price is 15 CNY (930 KZT).
- Taxi. You can order a car right at the airport, and the driver will arrive directly at the exit of the second arrival zone of the same terminal No.2. The price of a trip to the city center will be about 60-70 CNY (3722-4342 KZT).
- Please note that the bus will take you to one of the city stops, and the taxi will take you to the desired point of arrival. The time without traffic jams is about 20 minutes.
What to see in Urumqi
We recommend visiting the following places:
- The Museum of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. A large-scale museum of local lore with numerous exhibits revealing the culture and way of life of the settlements of the district in its deep past.
- Temple of Confucius. Built in 1767. At first, it really was a temple, and now it is a museum dedicated to both the great philosopher and the whole city.
- Erdaoqiao Market. The largest wholesale and retail market of various goods.
- Lake Tianchi. A two-hour drive from Urumqi and two kilometers from sea level is a real pearl of nature.
- Red Mountain Park. Located in the center of Urumqi. It is impossible not to notice it thanks to the nine-story red brick pagoda located on the top of the mountain.
